Katsuo Matsumura

Katsuo Matsumura

Born in Tokyo, Katsuo Matsumura attended fine art school in Tokyo and worked for the architect Junzo Yoshimura. In 1947, he opened his own studio, Matsumura Studio Design. In 1960, he stayed in the US for the Japanese government in order to do research on design. He cofounded the Q Design, together with Riki and Yu Watanabe. He is considered as one of the pioneers of japanese modern design.
